It’s not everyday that a skateboarding movie is released and it can be called an epic. But that’s exactly what the new We Are Blood movie is, an epic film. It’s a skate flick that’s not only jam-packed full of sick skating from across the world, it also tells a engrossing story and carries a message that will hit home for skaters of any nationality. We Are Blood is about the wholehearted bond between skateboarders, no matter where they’re from or what language they speak. When you skate, you know you have a friend in another skater wherever you are on this earth.
The Skating World Brought Together
The movie is a collaboration between Mountain Dew Green Label Films and Brain Farm, starring pro skater Paul Rodriguez as he tours around the world hooking up with crews of skateboarders in places like Brazil, China and Dubai to name just a few. Directed by Ty Evans, the production values of this film are high to say the least. The latest camera equipment and techniques have been used to create a movie unlike any other skateboarding movie out there.
Only the Best
Video cameras like the Phantom Flex 4K were used to capture stunning high resolution footage with amazing slow motion effects. Other camera systems used were the Shotover F1 and the RED Dragon, which can capture still images in an staggering 6K resolution. Evans spoke about the film, saying, “We are excited to tell a compelling story about the raw emotions of skateboarding, and by using the best in digital cinema techniques and equipment, we’re creating something different than skateboarding films of the past.”

A Skate Movie for Everyone
The film is premiering tonight, August 13th, at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, and it will then continue on a world tour of screenings. New York, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Portland, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston and San Diego are on the US screening leg, and in Europe it will play in Amsterdam, Munich and Vienna.
