Fin-S Fin System Review

August 8, 2013 By Admin

Fin-S Surfboard SystemThe Fin-S (pronounced finesse) is one of the hottest and most versatile surfboard fin systems on the market. The brainchild of surfers Scott and Chad Posner, it features a state-of-the-art SpringLock technology that snaps directly into the board. Surfers are no longer forced to carry around heavy tools or fin keys to switch out their fins. Thanks to the Posner brothers’ Fin-S system, you only need a board and your board.

There are several different models of Fin-S fins, all of which feature the same brilliant interlocking technology that doesn’t require tools or keys. If you’ve been surfing for any given length of time, you’ve probably found yourself in a position where you needed to change a fin but couldn’t find the necessary tool. There’s nothing worse than being stuck with the wrong fin on your board. I think it’s safe to say the Posner brothers found the answer to this problem with their innovative Fin-S design.

Materials used in the construction of the Fin-S system vary depending on the particular model. The Hi-Per Resin injection molded fins is one of the most popular Fin-S models. However, other models are produced using fiberglass, honeycomb composite and even bamboo. Fin-S fins feature a wide mix of professional-grade materials to achieve a superior level of quality. Along with their exceptional craftsmanship, you really can’t go wrong with any of the Fin-S fin systems.

So, how exactly does the Fin-S fin system work without the use of tools or keys? It features a marine-grade stainless steel spring to apply constant pressure to the fin box. Once the spring is placed in the fin box, it forces out the nearby locking pins for additional security. The pins lock into the side to prevent the fin from moving. It’s an incredibly strong and equally firm grip that won’t budge when you are hitting the waves.

The fin boxes used with the Fin-S system are made from glass-fiber reinforced plastic to create an incredibly strong yet equally lightweight support system. The fin box is designed to use the shortest possible length so the board flexes naturally over time. Unlike some of the heavier fin boxes, you can rest assured knowing the Fin-S box isn’t going to weigh you down on the water.

The bottom line is that the Fin-S fin system is a high-end product that sets the bar high for other fin manufacturers. The unique “tool-less” technology is a huge benefit that surfers are sure to enjoy.
