Brighten Up Your Life With a Sunset Skateboard

May 27, 2013 By Admin

sunset-1Want to stand out from the crowd when you are skateboarding  in the late evening hours? If so, you should look into a Sunset skateboard. These highly stylish and equally fun skateboards will illuminate your surroundings in various colors thanks to their light-emitting diode (LED) technology. Keep reading and we’ll take a closer look into Sunset skateboards and how they work.

About Sunset Skateboards

At first glance, you might assume these skateboards would require batteries to operate. After all, most light-up devices need some source of energy to run, so common sense would lead one to believe Sunset skateboards are no exception. Well, you’ll be glad to hear that they run without the use of any batteries. As the wheels spin, there’s a copper ring that travels around a magnetic base to generate power for the LED glow lights.

Like all bulbs, the LED glow lights used in Sunset skateboards will eventually go out, but not until a LOT of use. On average, you expect to get about 100,000 hours of glow time out of the LED lights on a Sunset skateboard. And once they do go out many many years down the road, you can purchase replacements for it. Changing the LED-lit wheel is the same process as changing a regular skateboard’s wheel.

It’s important to note that while Sunset skateboards use LED illuminating technology, they don’t offer enough lighting to see in pitch-black darkness. Only use your skateboard where there’s other street lights or other lighting around to help you see.

Choosing a Sunset Skateboard

There are several different styles and designs of Sunset skateboards available for sale. One of the first things you’ll want to consider when shopping for one is the color of the LED lights. Some of the most commonly used colors include pink, white, red, green, orange and yellow. Choose a color that fits your personality and riding style to take full advantage of this stylish light-up technology.

Another decision you’ll have to make when shopping for a Sunset skateboard is whether you want a clear deck or traditional deck. Sunset skateboards offer a variety of clear decks manufactured using the same high-end Polycarbonate resin that’s used in bulletproof glass. When the wheels are turning and the LED lights are turned on, it will light up the clear material to offer a greater amount of illumination.
