Back in 1971 the first Morey bodyboard was born, and things have come along way since then. Morey Bodyboards are still pumping out their iconic Mach 7 model, tuned up with all the latest materials, and have a whole range of other sick bodyboards. No matter what type of waves you want to ride, whether you like getting deep into the barrel or boosting big airs off the lip, Morey has you covered. Here are four of the best bodyboards to come from the original bodyboard company.
Getting Started – Morey Cruiser
If you’ve never been bodyboarding before and you’re looking for a board to get you started then the Morey Cruiser fits the bill. Even experienced riders will have fun on this one, it’s a great board to take down the beach any day of the week, for kids or adults. The cruiser has a Phuzion core and HDPE slick bottom, and even with these great quality materials the cost of the board is still low. It features grip bulbs along the rails of the board, which are especially good for newcomers to help keep hold of the board in the surf.
Big Riders and Barrels – Morey Big Kahuna
Next up we have the Morey Big Kahuna, and it’s not called big for nothing. This board is better suited for large riders, and if you weigh over 160lbs this is definitely the board for you. Its wider than most other bodyboards out there, and this model comes at 44”. It has plenty of float and it’s great at getting into waves early, making it especially suited for riding the barrel. The crescent tail will help you keep locked into the power pocket of a wave and provide plenty of stability. So for big riders and barrels, the Morey Bog Kahuna is the one.
The Trickster – Morey Baja
For riders who want more progressive performance out of their bodyboard the Morey Baja is the perfect step-up for intermediates. It has a few design tweaks that really push its capabilities, while sticking with durable materials so you can give it a real thrashing. The bat tail helps for faster turns and fluid rail-to-rail bodyboarding, and the channels gives the board some extra speed. If you want to start boosting airs or big rollos off the lip then give this board a try.
High Performance All-Rounder – Morey Mach 7
You simply can’t go wrong with a Morey Mach 7, this was the first true high performance bodyboard with a slick bottom released by Morey. Guys like Mike Stewart pushed the original Mach 7 and its predecessors to the limit. This model has been tweaked to perfection over the decades, and now it uses the top materials alongside its classic all-rounder design. It combines a super light and strong Dow Wavecore blank with a high density polyethylene slick bottom. It’s great for riding prone and drop knee, and has 50-50 rails and channels. It you want to charge on your bodyboard look no further than the Mach 7.
