Every month we’re going to be highlighting some of the best skateboarding equipment out there from the most dedicated skateboard designers and producers across the globe. To kick things off we’re going to run through a selection of sick complete setups available from Sector 9. With over 20 years of experience designing and testing skateboards, Sector 9 has grown into one of the most recognized skateboard companies in the world from its humble beginnings in La Jolla back in ’93. Whether you’re looking for a longboard to pump and carve, a freeride setup to skate the sidewalk and take on hill runs, or a downhill skateboard built for serious speed, Sector 9 has you covered. Here are three of their finest boards.
Carving – Striker
The Sector 9 Striker lends itself perfectly to both newcomers to longboard skateboarding and veterans who love to pump the deck and push through long and powerful carves. The Striker works great as a flatland skateboard, giving the rider plenty of flex in the deck to regenerate speed easily. Part of the Sidewinder Series, this is a real surf style skateboard and a great board for everyday skating. Check out the Sector 9 Striker in action and find out more about its specs in this video:
Freeride – Mini Daisy
A versatile board that is actually a scaled down version of pro rider Louis Pilloni’s Daisy downhill design, the Mini Daisy opens up the doors for skaters to take on a whole range of terrain. At heart it’s a freeride board, so whether you’re hitting those long winding hill runs or skating some backstreet with ledges and jumps this setup has got you covered. If you’re wondering how the Sector 9 Mini Daisy handles, check out Alvin Segova, Chance Gaul, Ross Druckrey and Louis Pilloni putting it through its paces in the next video:
Downhill – Carbon Flight
A speed demon that will get you absolutely flying across the asphalt is Sector 9’s Carbon Flight setup. This board is a serious downhill rider’s dream, with a design that puts emphasis on speed but still offers stability when going fast. It comes with Sector 9’s Skiddles wheels, which really add to the skidding and sliding capabilities of the setup. The deck is made of hardrock maple, 5 ply with carbon fibre stringers and all wrapped up in fiberglass, making it lightweight and strong. Watch some of Sector 9’s riders scream down the hill runs on the Sector 9 Carbon Flight in this video, and watch out for the sick switch skating:
Sector 9 has a whole bunch of awesome boards available, along with wheels, gloves, helmets, pads, tools and bags. Buying a complete setup lets you skate your board straight out of the box, but there is nothing stopping you from creating your own custom board by picking your own parts. Check out the entire Sector 9 range here, and keep tuned for our pick of the favorites from Sector 9’s dope range of wheels.
